Labour ‘puts its own staff in poverty with short-term work’
A LABOUR staffer has revealed details of the “insecure” working practices and short-term contracts used by the party.
Workers, including those who organised last month’s party conference, are being driven to using food banks and payday lenders as a result of Labour’s practices, the whistleblower claimed.
The staffer, who works for the National Communications Centre in Newcastle, said some colleagues were “employed on as little as 12 hours a week and did not know how many hours they would work next week”. A party spokesman said: “Labour party employees are paid no less than a real living wage of £10 an hour and the party does not use zero hours contracts.”
