Man ‘posed as Fabregas to steal star’s £8,500 bike’

-

AN ALLEGED thief who stole Chelsea star Cesc Fàbregas’s £8,500 electric bike posed as the footballer using an email account in his name to steal it, court documents claim.

Vlad Grigoruta, 24, is due to appear in court accused of stealing a Greyp G12S bike that had been customised for the Spanish international.

The bike, which can reach speeds of 70kmph (43mph) according to the manufacturer’s website, is said to have been stolen from an address linked to the World Cup winner in Belgravia, central London.

Mr Grigoruta, from Harrow, Middlesex, is charged with stealing the bicycle on Feb 21 and two counts of fraud. The fraud charges, outlined in court documents, allege that he created an email account using Fabregas’s name.

Using a “fabregasc332@gmail.com” address, Mr Grigoruta is alleged to have sent emails to the manufacturer in a bid to access and change the bike’s security code and fingerprint readers.

Dominik Vrbanac, the head of sales at Greyp Bikes, said the bike had been recovered and returned to Fàbregas.

Mr Grigoruta is due to appear at Westminster magistrates’ court today.
