Hoarder died after trip in cluttered home

-

A hoarder died after tripping over a coffee table in his “messy” home, an inquest heard.

Gwyn Mead, 75, broke his hip after falling in his cluttered house in Taffs Well, Cardiff, and could not get up. He was later taken to hospital but died weeks afterwards from sepsis.

Alan Collins, a friend, said: “Gwyn was a hoarder and there was mess everywhere. He had fallen on a coffee table that had crushed beneath him. He said he had tripped on something. There was limited floor space.”

Graeme Hughes, the coroner, said the cause of death on July 7 was biliary sepsis and a recent hip fracture, and that it was an accident.
