‘Headlock’ murder link to gang crime
♦ Police investigating the death of a Polish man in London almost a year ago have opened a gang-related murder investigation, believing he was choked to death in the street after being put in a headlock.
A £10,000 reward has been offered to help identify Piotr Woroneicki’s killers.
The 32-year-old’s body was found at Parma Crescent, Clapham, south London on Nov 23 2017.
It has now emerged that five attempts were made to break into Mr Woroneicki’s house. However, the intruders left £100,000 in cash and “a significant amount” of class A drugs untouched.
The death was originally investigated as unexplained, but a post-mortem found it was caused by compression to the neck, consistent with the victim being held in a headlock. Detectives say it was potentially related to an “organised crime syndicate”.
