Strictly’s Walsh apologises for hurt caused by ‘kiss’ photo
SEANN WALSH, the Strictly Come Dancing contestant at the centre of a “kissing” controversy, hit back at his ex-girlfriend yesterday, saying: “Our relationship wasn’t perfect.”
When photographs emerged of him kissing Katya Jones, his professional dance partner, outside a London pub, Rebecca Humphries responded by dumping him in an open letter.
But appearing on It Takes Two, BBC Two’s Strictly spin-off show, Walsh said: “I made a mistake, which I’m very sorry for – sorry for the hurt I’ve caused. You never think about the extent of the damage that you’re going to do. I’m not perfect, far from it. Our relationship wasn’t perfect.
“People that know me the most, that love me, they know that I am not the person I’m being portrayed as.”
Jones said: “I can’t apologise enough to everyone who it hurt. But me and Neil [her husband and fellow Strictly dancer] are absolutely fine.”
The BBC has decided to stand by Walsh and the pair will dance the Charleston but are the bookmakers’ favourite to be voted off.
Arlene Phillips, a former judge on the show, told Lorraine, the ITV show: “They are consenting adults. Unless they’ve signed some sort of disclosure that there is a behavioural contract, they are not going to stop what they’ve been hired to do, and that is dance.”
She added: “We all love Neil and Katya, there is a togetherness, in truth who knows what their relationship [is like]? I know many who have open relationships. Pro dancers know there’s cameras everywhere. None of us know the absolute details of what happened.”
