Switching service aims to end ‘rip-off ’ household bills
A computerised auto-switching revolution which will bring an end to rip-off household bills begins next week.
Gocompare will launch Weflip, which uses computers to shop around for deals so consumers do not have to.
It is the first time such a service has been offered by a major comparison website, and it will initially only cover household energy contracts.
But mortgages, insurance, broadband and phones are expected to follow within a few years.
Once customers give their details, an algorithm identifies the right moment to switch, and looks up the best deal.
Customers could be moved more than once a year as it can calculate the impact of early exit penalties.
Matthew Crummack, the chief executive of Gocompare, said: “Our easy-to-use approach to continuous saving has the potential to bring overpriced energy deals to an end for good.”
