Star guests’ wedding snaps go online in an Insta-instant

- By Patrick Sawer

If this Instagram photo is anything to go by, then it was a very good wedding indeed. Shortly after leaving the reception that followed the marriage of Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle yesterday, Cara Delevingne, the model, posted a photograph on Instagram taken by Liv Tyler, the American actress.

It shows Cara with her sisters Poppy and Chloe and their friends Derek Blasberg and David Gardner sprawled across sofas at a nearby hotel. Next to them are glasses and bottles of ale.

Cara added the simple caption “post wedding”, indicating that – what with all those speeches and canapés – the party of friends had exhausted themselves and suddenly come over all tired and emotional.

One observer said: “They arrived back from the reception in very high spirits, but were soon laid out on sofas and armchairs looking rather tired. They certainly looked as if they’d had a good time.”

Cara Delevingne’s outfit turned heads at Windsor with her choice of a boyish black tie, tail coat and top hat, and she described herself on Instagram as “suited and booted” and “showing up the lads”.

Also sharing photographs on social media was Chelsy Davy, the Duke of Sussex’s former girlfriend, wearing a bespoke wedding hat by J T Millinery, one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite milliners. Naomi Campbell, one of the industry’s original supermodels, posted a photograph showing her name tag covering that of Princess Eugenie to give the impression she was the one marrying Mr Brooksbank.

Several of the guests leaving the reception commented on what a beautiful, family affair the wedding had been, with speeches by the groom emphasising his devotion to his new wife, and the Duke of York poking gentle fun at his expense, including a joke about shouting at his dog “Jack” to get off a chair and his new son-in-law leaping instinctively into the air.

As Tyler’s photograph shows, there was certainly a lot of fun to be had at the Windsor Castle party.

Another celebrity guest who posted updates was Jack Whitehall, the comedian. He poked fun at his fellow League of Their Own panel member and former footballer Jamie Redknapp, who also attended.

“Royal wedding, Windsor Castle in the presence of the Queen and I end up sitting next to a low rent footballer. I have to start pretending he was Rupert Redknapp, The Duke of Hampton,” said Whitehall. “An incredible day, seeing two of the kindest and most lovely people in the world tying the knot. Wish them a very happy life together!”

As their guests joked on social media, Mr Brooksbank and his new wife drove off in an Aston Martin DB10, originally created for James Bond Spectre, to start their married life together.
