THE INVESTMENT DRESSER

-

It may seem a little early to think about the party season, but they who plan ahead, nab the best looks and tend not to succumb to those regrettable fripperies that tend to be an occupational party wear hazard.

So apply the five key questions formula, as (heavily) adapted from Gordon Brown’s euro test.

1Is it metallic (does it throw light up on the face, look “party-ish” with zero other input required) but not too metallic (is it a bit tacky, loud and like Joan Collins in the wrong way)?

2

Does it have sleeves, or other appurtenances that generally get forgotten in the heat of the changing room, the absence of which will ultimately render the thing unwearable?

Can it be worn lots of ways

at least three, with a jumper or jacket, and with boots, all of which will ensure it works at all kinds of parties, even those in a marquee that the host promised would be as toasty as your duvet but is only as toasty as two-day-old toast)?

Is it decently made so it split the moment you do your special dancefloormoves.

A timeless cut – these have vintage look which makes it intrinsically classic.
