Chinese growth slows to weakest in nine years

China reported economic growth of 6.5pc in the third quarter from a year earlier, its weakest pace in nearly a decade. The slowdown comes amid a trade war with the US and as high levels of public debt take their toll. Economists had forecast growth of 6.6pc, down from 6.7pc in the last quarter.
