Crash victim: it’s right Duke gave up his licence
The woman who suffered a broken wrist in a car crash involving the Duke of Edinburgh in Norfolk last month has said she feels “safer” now he has given up his driving licence.
Emma Fairweather, 46, said the decision was “sensible”, adding: “It’s a shame he didn’t make it a bit sooner but it’s the right thing to do.”
The Duke, 97, voluntarily surrendered his licence after “careful consideration”, Buckingham Palace said at the weekend.
Norfolk Police have passed their file on the crash to prosecutors, although he is now unlikely to face action.
