Police get more time to question murder suspect
Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a mother in Surrey have been granted more time to question a man on suspicion of murder.
Aliny Mendes, 39, described as a “caring mother” with a “wonderful heart” by friends and family, was attacked in a street in Ewell at about 3pm on Friday.
Surrey Police said yesterday that magistrates had given officers more time to question the suspect over the death. The man, in his 40s and from nearby Epsom, was arrested shortly after the attack.
