The grubby, scrubby banks of Loch Lomond

-

sir – It is good news that Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park has instituted a full-time anti-litter managerial post (report, February 7).

Blighting the landscape by littering is especially obnoxious in truly lovely settings such as Loch Lomond, but in truth it is a ubiquitous problem that should not be tolerated anywhere. It is puzzling that it seems a problem unique to Britain and its impact on foreign visitors makes one cringe.

The park’s management might also consider the proliferation of worthless scrub that has grown up where the road has been “improved” in recent decades. This has almost entirely obstructed the views in the southern half of the loch, at least for the road users.
