Toxic alcohol kills 99 people in India

At least 99 people have died with scores taken to hospital in the northern Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhan after drinking toxic alcohol.

Police said they believed bootleggers had doctored moonshine with methanol, a highly toxic form of alcohol sometimes used as an anti-freeze.
