Police hunt woman who shoved a shopper into a bus

‘Pimlico pusher’ caught on CCTV following argument in supermarket

- By Jack Hardy

A WOMAN is being hunted by police after footage showed her apparently shoving a shopper in front of a bus.

The alleged victim, in her 60s, was almost run over when she was sent crashing into the path of the vehicle on Vauxhall Bridge Road, Pimlico, central London, on May 29 last year.

Scotland Yard released video of the incident, along with a picture of the woman thought responsible as they appealed for information on the “unprovoked” attack.

CCTV captured the moment the alleged victim was approached by the suspect, who was with two children, including a toddler, and pushed her from behind, causing her to fall.

Detectives believe the she had been targeted following an argument in a branch of Tesco Express around midday.

She was first barged by the woman in the shop but left uninjured, police said.

However, despite removing herself from the situation and walking towards Barclays Bank on Vauxhall Bridge Road, the alleged victim was approached again as she waited to cross the road at traffic lights.

Video showed her being pushed sharply in the back by the suspect, as her child stood just behind her.

Onlookers rushed to the alleged victim’s aid as she was sent tumbling headfirst into the bus, falling against the passenger doors.

She suffered grazes and bruising to her ankles, shins and knees and cut the top of her head, as well as incurring shoulder injuries. In the footage, she can be seen clutching her head in pain.

The hunt for the so-called “Pimlico pusher” is reminiscent of a similar episode on Putney Bridge in May 2017, when a runner pushed a woman into oncoming traffic. In this case, the woman narrowly avoided being crushed by a bus thanks to the quick-thinking actions of the driver, who swerved out of the way.

Footage of the attack provoked a public outcry but the man responsible has never been brought to justice despite a string of unsuccessful arrests.

Det Con Samantha Edwards said of the Pimlico incident: “This was an

‘It goes without saying the victim has been deeply affected by this’

unprovoked assault which could have had much more serious consequences.”

Inquiries have been undertaken to locate the person responsible. If you recognise this woman I would ask you to contact police immediately. It goes without saying that the alleged victim has been deeply affected by this incident.”

A picture of the suspect shows her holding a sandwich while wearing a camouflage print jacket, a khaki green T-shirt, grey trousers and light-brown trainers.

No details were released about the exchange between her and the woman, but she could be seen quickly hurrying from the scene with a fabric shopping bag while clutching her child’s hand.
