Duchess names own team to oversee birth

THE Duchess of Sussex has appointed her own medical team to oversee the birth of her first child, rather than the Queen’s doctors, according to reports.

Apparently prefering a relaxed atmosphere to the close supervision of experienced royal physicians, the Duchess will be aided by a female doctor in a low-intervention birth. She will not give birth at the Lindo Wing, it is understood, and will instead be based in Windsor.

The experienced Royal Household gynaecologists, who led the hospital team for the Duchess of Cambridge’s three births, will be available only if needed.

The Mail on Sunday claimed that the Duchess, 37, had expressed a view that she did not want “men in suits” to supervise the birth, preferring to prepare for as natural a labour as was possible and safe.

Last week, she and the Duke officially moved into Frogmore Cottage after major renovations, just in time for the beginning of their lives as a family of three.

The baby will be seventhin-line to the throne.

The couple were reported to have appointed an “unnamed female doctor” to lead the team.

While the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated the birth of their children by posing for a photograph on the steps of the Lindo Wing, greeting admirers who had turned out to wish them well, the Sussexes are expected to eschew a public appearance.

The couple recently launched their own Instagram page, promising to share “important announcements” with fans online.

A spokesman for the Royal family declined to comment.
