BUCKINGHAM PALACE May 3rd

The Queen, Sovereign of the Order, accompanie­d by The Princess Royal, Grand Master, was present this morning at a Service of the Royal Victorian Order held in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The Duke of York, The Earl of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, Prince Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were also present.

Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness were received by the Dean of Windsor (the Right Reverend David Conner) and the Chaplain of the Order (the Reverend Canon Professor Peter Galloway).

Detachment­s of Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and the Military Knights of Windsor were on duty in St George’s Chapel.

Afterwards The Queen gave a Reception at Windsor Castle for those who attended the Service.

The Queen held a Council at Windsor Castle at 3 pm.

There were present: the Rt Hon Andrea Leadsom, MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Tobias Ellwood, MP (Parliament­ary Under Secretary of State and Minister for Defence People and Veterans), the Baroness Evans of Bowes Park (Leader of the House of Lords and Lord Privy Seal), the Rt Hon Edward Young (Private Secretary to The Queen) and the Rt Hon Penelope Mordaunt, MP.

Mr Roderick Stewart, MP, was sworn in as a member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

The Rt Hon Penelope Mordaunt, MP, took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointmen­t and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Defence.

The Rt Hon Roderick Stewart, MP, took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointmen­t and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Internatio­nal Developmen­t.

Mrs Ceri King was in attendance as Deputy Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Andrea Leadsom, MP, had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

CLARENCE HOUSE May 3rd

The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, President, The Prince’s Foundation, and Patron, The Queen Elizabeth Scholarshi­p Trust, this morning visited The Prince’s Foundation’s Traditiona­l Building Skills Programme’s live build on the Dumfries House estate, Cumnock, Ayrshire.

His Royal Highness, Patron, later visited the Royal Conservato­ire of Scotland, Renfrew Street, Glasgow, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of the City of Glasgow (Councillor Eva Bolander, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, Patron, Macmillan Cancer Care, afterwards visited the Glasgow Life Project, Mitchell Library, North Street, Glasgow.

KENSINGTON PALACE May 3rd

The Duke of Cambridge, Commodore-in-chief, Submarines, today attended a Service to recognise Fifty Years of Continuous At Sea Deterrence, Westminste­r Abbey, London SW1, and subsequent­ly attended a Reception at The Queen Elizabeth II Centre, Broad Sanctuary, London SW1, and was received by Commander Johnathan Herriman (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

ST JAMES’S PALACE May 3rd

The Countess of Wessex this morning visited Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya School, Geeta Colony Road, Gandhi Nagar, New Delhi, India.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon took a tour of historic New Delhi landmarks conducted by the Magic Tours charity and facilitate­d by the Women on Wheels charity.

The Countess of Wessex later visited Gandhi Smriti, 5 Tees January Marg, Tees January Road Area, New Delhi.

Her Royal Highness this evening attended a Reception for notable Indian women at the Residence of the British High Commission­er to the Republic of India in New Delhi.
