Fiat-renault deal hopes lift stocks

Reports that Renault and Fiat Chrysler are back in merger talks pushed shares in European car manufacturers higher. Discussions about a deal to create the world’s thirdlargest carmakers had failed in June. The French government is the biggest Renault shareholder, with a 15pc stake.
