Bank extends PPI complaints deadline due to website glitch

-

 Santander was forced to extend its deadline for payment protection insurance (PPI) complaints until last night after technical problems left customers frustrated.

Its website was down for “essential maintenance” early on Thursday, the deadline day, and, although this was quickly fixed, customers complained of a series of glitches that made it hard to submit complaints.

Some said they were unable to input their date of birth, meaning they could not continue with their claim, while others said “submit” was not working.

Santander extended the deadline until 8pm yesterday “as a result of the high volumes [of complaints] received”.

In total, £36billion has been paid out in relation to PPI. Moneysavingexpert. com said: “If anyone missed the deadline because of something that was the bank’s fault, we would expect any bank to show sympathy and let them put the complaint in.”
