War crimes trial date for five men on 9/11 charges

A start date has been set for the war crimes trial of five men held at the Guantánamo Bay prison on charges of planning and aiding the 9/11 attacks.

A military judge says the deathpenalty case will start on Jan 11 2021. The order also lays out a number of other deadlines in a case that has been bogged down in pretrial litigation since the five defendants were arraigned in May 2012. The charges include terrorism, hijacking and nearly 3,000 counts of murder.
