You are not alone

Bringing Britain Together: 6-page section inside

-

Home school like a boss, love in the time of corona, Gyles Brandreth, Q&AS & more

We may be living in unprecedented times, but in the days, weeks and months to come it is you, our readers, who will set the agenda in these pages and far beyond. Yesterday, we launched You Are Not Alone – a section devoted to answering your most pressing questions and a place to feature your own stories of inspiration and courage. All designed to keep the

Telegraph community in touch with each other, and our contributors.

Already many of you have sent in suggestions for what will get us through, from virtual film clubs to local dog-walking initiatives and how to keep our spirits up in the face of a lockdown.

Sheila Williams in Ascot suggests a “poem a day to keep the blues away”, while Ruth Whitlock in Wootton wonders whether the BBC could broadcast some gentle exercise programmes each day for those not au fait with Youtube.

With the suspension of church services, meanwhile, Miranda Gudenian in Yarcombe has been reminded of the daily Silent Minute during the Second World War, when thousands of Britons would unite in prayer or positive thought.

Above all, it is clear we have not lost our sense of humour. Robert Paterson in Newbury advises, “An active pensioner with supply of toilet rolls seeks friendship with lady reader with wine cellar.”

Today at 1pm, psychologist Linda Blair and personal trainer Scott Laidler will answer your questions about how to stay mentally and physically healthy (see p25).

Do keep sending your stories, questions and inspirational ideas to our team at the following address. Every letter and email is welcome. We are all in this together.
