OTHER INTERNET LOCKDOWN SENSATIONS

THE LLANDUDNO GOATS

There is next to no traffic on British roads at the moment, and a herd of goats is making the most of it in this Welsh town. Footage of them strutting down the high street and relaxing in a churchyard has been shared widely on Twitter. Less impressive is how they are eating through people’s front gardens. Kids these days.

LAYLA WHO WANTS A TAKEAWAY

Not only does lockdown mean a lot of time with your family, it also means a lot of time with your family’s cooking. Jo Chorlton has had 3.3 million views on a video of her four-year-old daughter Layla having a weapons-grade tantrum when she found out that all the takeaways were shut. “Nando’s is closed,” says her mum Jo, which elicits wailing. “KFC, too.” Howling. “Are Chinese closed as well?” Layla says between gasping sobs. ’Fraid so, sweetheart.

ISRAELI MOTHER RANTING ABOUT HOMESCHOOLING School closures around the world have led to a global outpouring of peeved parents. Shiri Koenigsberg

Levy made many laugh with her rant in Hebrew about the difficulties of teaching her four children when they only have two computers. “One of my daughter’s teachers is living in a dream world if he thinks she’ll get up at 8am to see him on screen,” she says.

THE BBC NEWS RAVER

Bill Bailey did it

16 years ago, but influencer Rachel Leary has revived the idea that the BBC News theme music is a bit of a sleeper rave classic and packaged it for the internet generation, Dj-ing to a bulletin on her kitchen hob.

THE BORED SPORTS COMMENTATORS

It began post-sports cancellations, when rugby commentator Nick Heath wandered around Tooting, south London, recording short bursts of commentary over footage of people crossing the road, or choosing items in Waitrose, or walking with prams in the park. Others followed. Clive Tyldesley described his wife making a lasagne as if it were a Champions League quarter-final, and last week came the best of the lot: Andrew Cotter commentating on his Labradors chomping through their dinner.

‘I WILL SURVIVE’

You might not hear Gloria Gaynor’s seminal anthem of resilience in quite the same way again, after Instagrammer Victoria Emes recorded a parody version. Concerns about toilet roll? Check. References to gin? Check. Something about a “messy hole”? Check. More than 250,000 have seen it. Is one of them Gaynor? Probably not.

CARE HOME HUNGRY HIPPOS

You all know the classic board game, but have you seen it played by wheelchair-using care home residents (a bored game, if you will)? Staff and residents at Hallmark Care Homes’ Bryn Celyn Care Home in Maesteg, Wales, briefly became social media stars.
