Six right-for-now sales buys
When it became clear that shops would be closed for weeks and spending would nosedive during the uncertainty of lockdown, it was also evident that some of the biggest sales ever seen would follow. Not ideal news for retailers – in March, clothing sales dropped an astonishing 34 per cent – but now there are bargains galore to be had.
If we’ve learnt anything, fashion-wise, in recent months though, it’s that a more considered approach might do us all good. So in that spirit, I’ve trawled the deals to find six gorgeous pieces that would make brilliant right-for-now investments…
The classic sunglasses
If you’ve held off spending for a while and won’t be splashing out on a big summer holiday, this could be the time to finally get a pair of ultra-chic, Jackie O-approved designer shades. This Givenchy style will look fabulous for ever.
The gingham skirt
I bought this pre-sale and it’s one of the best-designed skirts I’ve ever encountered – the cut is loose yet flattering, the pockets are generously deep and it has excellent twirl factor. You could wear it every day of the year, too. I’m tempted.
The dress-up, dress-down dress
Floaty but not too voluminous, floral but not pretty, this a frock for all style sensibilities. And it has sleeves!
Chic loafers
Grenson might come to mind when you think of stompy boots, but they have some beautifully made sandals and loafers. These white ones will smarten up your jeans and T-shirts a treat.
The bag
What’s one of those, I hear you cry. We may not have had much need for bags of late but use this for day trips and picnics now, and for the office… later.
Ear candy
A sugary dose of cheer in earring form – clip these on for instant Facetime chic.
