Covid instructions

-

sir – Is part of the public’s confusion with the Government’s directives on behaviour during the Covid pandemic caused by the blurring of the exact meaning of the words advice, guidance and instruction?

sir – The Government needs to stop adding to the Covid hysteria by suggesting we are moving to a second wave. We are not witnessing the start of a second wave, but the continuation of the first bout caused by lockdown, with so many not having been exposed to the virus.

The Swedish professor Johan Giesecke, who predicted that you cannot stop the spread of the virus, and so should take a long-term approach and measures to co-exist with the virus, is being proven correct by events.

The initial campaign of “stay at home and save the NHS from being overwhelmed” has long passed, but the Government has done nothing to allay the fear engendered, and certainly won’t, as long as it fails to target protection for the vulnerable but insists on healthy people wearing face masks.

sir – Katharine Birbalsingh points out (Comment, August 27) that masks will be misused by children.

Why only children? How many of us adults will be washing our masks every day, or wearing new ones? Michael Cheetham

sir – There are plans for vets to administer Covid vaccines. I’m not sure I want to be held down and jabbed in the back of the neck. Gail Bridger
