The Scottish Bridge Union has continued to hold regular matchpoint pairs events using the Bridgebase­online platform, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge

Correspond­ent. These are national open pairs, held on Tuesday evenings, Bronze brunch pairs held in the middle of the day on a Saturday, and a Swiss pairs held on Saturday evenings.

During October, the highest score on a Tuesday pairs was 68.45%, which was achieved by Geoff Bailey and Nicol Taylor on the 20th. The highest score on a Bronze Brunch pairs was 79.27%, achieved by Mary Davidson and Ken Brown on the 31st. The Swiss pairs run on a nine week cycle, with the current leaders being David Stevenson and Liz Commins.

The SBU is also holding some of its traditiona­l events online and tomorrow, at 11 am, it is holding the Edwin Berry Bowl, this is as a Swiss Teams event, eight rounds of seven boards. House in Plymouth.
