Rising Covid cases
SIR – The daily number of new Covid-19 cases is currently about 50,000 (report, October 19), but we are not being told what proportion of these people have been vaccinated, or where the cases are occurring.
Surely the public is entitled to know these basic facts. If they were given, pressure could be put on those who are contributing to these alarming figures to take appropriate precautions.

SIR – Am I alone in being alarmed at the rising daily number of Covid cases, even among the fully vaccinated?
Meanwhile, there seems to have been a complete relaxation of the guidance on preventive measures. Shoppers in England, and some in Wales, no longer wear face coverings. Football and rugby matches seem to be similarly lax – and the flu season is about to start.

SIR – Full vaccination of 90 per cent of the over-12 population will require another 8.75 million doses to be delivered. At the current rate of 60,000 doses per day, this will take 146 days.
Assuming there are adequate supplies, should the Government not be doing more than just “encouraging” vaccine uptake? I do not want hospital treatment from unvaccinated healthworkers, nor do I want to share space with unvaccinated teenagers. Michael Bird

SIR – On April 13 I received my second Astrazeneca inoculation.
On October 13 I received an email inviting me to have a booster jab.
By 12.15pm on October 14 I had received the Pfizer booster. I was most impressed.
