Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen in mourning as her ‘faithful’ sheepdog dies

- By Daily Telegraph Reporter

AMANDA OWEN, the Yorkshire Shepherdess, is mourning the loss of her beloved sheepdog – and Our Yorkshire Farm co-star – Kate.

She described the dog as a “faithful workmate, companion, colleague and friend” in a Twitter tribute.

Owen went to fetch Kate from its kennel on Saturday morning, only to find that the 14-year-old sheepdog had passed away during its sleep.

She shared photographs of herself with her pet, including selfies of them during their countryside walks.

Less than an hour before posting the news on Twitter, Owen had posted a video of the morning sunshine on the hills. She had captioned the post: “There’s the morning when you feel on top of the world!” A follow-up post read: “Then there’s the other kind of mourning. Where you go to get your faithful workmate, companion, colleague & friend from her kennel. Only to find that she has passed away in her sleep. Kate… that’ll do.”

The news comes after it was revealed that Owen will not be featuring in a spin-off show based on the hit series after separating from her husband.

Millions of viewers have watched Clive Owen and his wife raise their nine children since Our Yorkshire Farm was first broadcast in 2018.

But the new show, Beyond the Yorkshire Farm: Reuben & Clive, will feature only Clive and his eldest son, Reuben. It will follow them as they leave the Dales and launch a digging business together.

It comes after the Owens announced their separation after 21 years of marriage this summer.

They issued a joint statement in June in which they said they had made “the difficult decision to separate”.

It continued: “This hasn’t been easy, but we both believe it’s the right choice for the future of our family.

“Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together, with our numberone priority the happiness and wellbeing of our children.’

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph in October, the 48-year-old Owen said that hiding their split from fans had been difficult and that it was a relief to finally reveal the truth.

“You know when you have a pressure cooker, and you take the lid off and let the air out?” she said.
