- By Jamie Bullen

FOUR males have been arrested after a 21-year-old man was fatally stabbed at a train station in south-west London.

British Transport Police detectives opened a murder investigation after the victim was declared dead at Strawberry Hill just before midnight on Monday.

Police and paramedics were called to reports of an injured man at the station, near Twickenham, at 11.53pm and said his wounds were consistent with being stabbed.

Relatives of the man, who was from the local area, have been informed.

The four men arrested remain in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Blackburn said: “This is a senseless act of violence, which has seen the tragic death of a young man. This investigation remains in the early stages, and the station will remain closed while we continue our inquiries.”

The four arrested males remain in police custody. Scotland Yard has since confirmed that a 16-year-old was among those arrested after officers were called to a cul-de-sac, close to the station.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the16-year-old “was found with a laceration to his leg”. His condition is not being treated as life-threatening.

The spokesman added: “A short time earlier, police had been alerted to a stabbing at Strawberry Hill BR Station.

“A man in his 20s was found injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“At this time, the incidents are being treated as linked. British Transport Police will investigate the murder.”

The station remained closed yesterday.

South Western Railway said all lines between Twickenham and Teddington are blocked, which will disrupt services throughout the day.
