Biden: After I win, ‘loser’ will not concede

‘A president should be free and clear and ... celebrated for having done a good job, not indicted’

JOE BIDEN has warned that Donald Trump will refuse to concede if he loses the 2024 election because “losers are never graceful”.

Sitting down for a rare profile interview with The New Yorker, the US president attacked his rival, claiming he will “do anything to try and win” this year’s battle for the White House.

“Losers who are losers are never graceful,” Mr Biden said. “I just think that he’ll do anything to try to win. If – and when – I win, I think he’ll contest it. No matter what the result is.”

Mr Trump, 77, has continued to claim the 2020 election was stolen.

At the Conservative Political Action Conference last month, he said the only way Mr Biden can win is “if they cheat enough that they can steal it”.

In the interview, Mr Biden said he was confident about the 2024 election because he had proved people wrong in 2020 and during the 2022 mid-terms.

“I told you there wasn’t going to be any red wave. And in 2023, you told me we’re going to get our a-- kicked again? And we won every contested race out there,” he said.

Mr Biden said he never doubted he was going to run again and insisted he is “the only one who has ever beat him [Trump]. And I’ll beat him again.”

During the Jan 17 sit-down, published yesterday, the Democrat leader handed a notecard to biographer Evan Osnos that included a list of threats Mr Trump has made before the election. The note included his claim of becoming a dictator on “day one” and saying migrants are “poisoning the blood” of the US.

“What the hell,” Mr Biden said. “If you and I had sat down 10 years ago and I said a president is going to say those things, you would have looked at me like: ‘Biden, you’ve lost your senses.’”
