Stewart called five-year relationship a ‘fling’

- By Craig Simpson

SIR Patrick Stewart’s former partner says he has demeaned their five-year relationship by calling it a “silly affair”.

The actor has written an autobiography – Making It So – in which he writes about his time with Lisa Dillon, an English actress. In it, Sir Patrick, 83, writes “my time with Lisa Dillon would also prove to be relatively short”, like his other brief “affairs”.

Ms Dillon, almost 40 years Sir Patrick’s junior, has complained that the statement plays down the nature of their romance.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, she said: “The impression he gives is that our relationship was very fleeting, that I was a silly affair that broke up a marriage and he got caught out.

“But … this is the most enduring friendship of my life, or it was. In my heart of hearts, I always felt he would

‘I was so angry with him. I thought he would see the error of his ways and make some kind of retraction’

honour me properly if he were to write about me.”

Sir Patrick was married to Sheila Falconer for 22 years until 1990 when he became involved with actress Jessica Hetrick. He was also unfaithful during his second marriage, to producer Wendy Neuss, with Ms Dillon.

Ms Dillon said she was with the Star Trek star from 2003 to 2007, but they separated amicably before they were due to appear together in Macbeth, and she had contacted him over his framing of their relationship.

She said: “I was so angry with him. I thought he would see the error of his ways and that he might make some kind of retraction publicly.

“At some point my daughter might … read this untruth about me and not understand that, actually, that was a very important part of my, and his, life.”

Sir Patrick’s representatives have not responded to Ms Dillon’s comments.
