THE parents of an eight-year-old boy who was killed after he was hit by a car while playing on a toy scooter have paid tribute to their “happy go lucky” son.

Lennix Sutcliffe was struck by a car that was pulling into a driveway on a quiet cul-de-sac in Wiltshire on Saturday afternoon while on a “low down scooter/toy”, police said, leaving him fatally injured.

“Our Lennix was always playing, a happy go lucky child who was loved by everyone and who loved everyone. He simply loved life and was the light of our small village,” his parents Jackie and Chris Sutcliffe said in a tribute released

by Wiltshire Police last night. “He loved Pokémon and his favourite character was Charizard. He was playing, just playing, taking every ounce of enjoyment that life offered. We as a family are now coming together to support one another. We ask our community to provide us both time and space in the days, weeks and months ahead of us.” The incident took place at around 4.30pm on Saturday on Woodland View in Dilton Marsh near Westbury.

A neighbour, Stephen Bosson, whose grandchildren were also playing at the time, told Mailonline: “The children were playing tag when they came running in saying a boy was under a car. An off-duty police officer and neighbours gave him CPR. They had to try. We’re shaken as a community. The children are confused and can’t understand why he’s not going to be in school today.”

Wiltshire Police said a man in his 30s was being interviewed. Witnesses are asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 218 of April 13 date.
