Lottery numbers come up for Lismore RFC

Lismore RFC has had a very welcome cash boost from National Lottery Awards for All Scotland of £7,095.

The club will use the funds to provide a rugby hub for young people living in South East Edinburgh where they can take part in midweek and weekend games led by the qualified Community Coach.

This is from the National Lottery Community Fund in partnershi­p with sportscotl­and which is a quick access grant scheme with sums of between £300 and £10,000 on offer. National Lottery players raise £30 million each week for good caused in the UK.

Lismore Rugby Club Developmen­t Officer, Eric Jones, said: “We are delighted to receive financial support for our youth section, allowing us to grow and make everyone feel included in the exciting new project that we have coming up.

"Without the funding this would not have been possible, especially in such a difficult time. It is vital funding, which we know will help take our youth programme to the next level for all young people in the South East of Edinburgh.”

Chief Executive of sportscotl­and, Stewart Harris, said: “This funding from The National Lottery will make a huge difference to clubs and communitie­s the length and breadth of the country. The grants will help improve sporting opportunit­ies as part of Scotland’s world-class sporting system for all.

“A huge thanks must go National Lottery players – without their contributi­on today’s investment on sports clubs and physical activity organisati­ons would not have been possible. That contributi­on is playing a critical role in supporting people, projects and communitie­s during these challengin­g times.”

"I would like to congratula­te all the groups receiving funding today they are all important projects which will support people now, and in the future, when they can physically come back together to make great things happen in their community.”

National Lottery Awards for All Scotland is now more straightfo­rward to apply to and faster to get funding from.
