THE EYES HAVE IT
In support of Jason Abbot’s letter Winning Guns (July issue), I have used a matched pair of William Evans side-by-sides for most of my shooting career. These splendid guns, made in 1895 and 1897, were used by my late father-in-law on the record day at Rothwell, Lincolnshire, in 1951.
I was once advised by a wellknown South Lincolnshire sportsman that, “If the Lord had wanted us to shoot with over-andunders, He would have given us one eye in the middle of our forehead and the other on the end of our chin.” Good advice, what?
