BEE AWARE

-

How far from a footpath can I keep a beehive?

SSF, Bedfordshire Ideally, a beehive should be placed in an appropriate position at a minimum of eight metres from the nearest footpath or bridleway, with a hedge, fence or wall acting as a barrier between the public and the hives. If the barrier is reasonably low, the distance from the footpath should be increased to a minimum of 15 metres. Before erecting a beehive it might be useful to contact your local Beekeepers Association member at bbka.org.uk for advice.
