Introducing...
Ed Wills
Ed Wills has been the deputy editor of The Field since 2021. He caught his first fish at the age of three, sparking a lifelong interest in the countryside and its pursuits. Aside from a deep passion for fishing, shooting and stalking, he is a great supporter of regenerative agriculture. Ed oversees the digital content of The Field magazine, including the enormously popular Field Elevenses newsletter.
What does May hold?
“Trout will be gorging themselves on mayfly, so I’ll be taking every chance I can get to grab my rod and put a fly on the water. I’ll also be doing some training with my cocker spaniel, Bubble. Although she has just turned nine and is usually pretty good on shoot days, there’s always something to fine-tune in the close season.”
Charlotte Mackaness
Features editor Charlotte Mackaness grew up in North Yorkshire, so The Field very much felt like ‘home’ when she moved to London 20 years ago. After following her heart to Northamptonshire, she set about populating her home with children and a menagerie of animals. She is passionate about commissioning exceptional content for the magazine and encouraging new writers.
What does May hold?
“May is filled with promise for a wonderful summer ahead; the guide to Fieldy festivals really encapsulates this for me. This month, I’ll mainly be splitting my time between going eventing, attending school cricket matches and improving my casting technique – all while working out the best clothing and footwear for this glorious but changeable time of year.”
