KICK IN PANTS FOR POMPEY

-

NEW QPR boss Harry Redknapp on the perils of paying Jose Bosingwa £65,000 a week:

“There are a lot of players at this club who earn far too much money, and I don’t really want to see the owners have their pants taken down like they have in the past.

“You shouldn’t be paying massive wages when you’ve got a stadium that holds 18,000 people.”

Which is all very laudable. Until you remember that Redknapp happily signed Sol Campbell for Portsmouth and didn’t exactly complain when they handed him £90,000 a week. And what was Pompey’s average attendance in the Premier League? You guessed it – about 18,000.

So before Harry talks about pulling pants down, he might reflect that he is part of the reason why Portsmouth’s are currently flapping round their ankles.
