Slade left pinching himself at Orient run

LEYTON O ..........2 WALSALL ............1

- By John Peters

Orient keeper Jamie Jones was the star of the first half as he denied Craig Westcarr and Febian Brandy twice in ten minutes, first blocking a 23rd minute header, before smothering the ball soon after.

And Mooney’s 44thminute goal was a sucker-punch for Walsall as the 28-year-old striker drilled the ball into the bottom left corner.

Orient improved in the second half as Kevin Lisbie missed a nearopen goal, while Andy Butler blocked Mooney after Aaron McCarey dropped a cross.

But Mantom levelled the scores with a screamer on 78 minutes.

However, with just three minutes left, 19-year-old defender Odubajo appeared at the back post to bury the winner leaving Walsall manager Dean Smith ruing a catalogue of missed chances.

He said:“To be honest we’re frustrated. We could have gone in three or four up, so to come away with nothing is disappointing.

“We have been consistent in most of our performance. We had plenty of chances and I’m frustrated.

“That is what happens when we have a hatful of chances and they score in the second half.

“We can’t change anything now. I will take the performance all day long.”
