Evans can sleep easy as Millers roar back

ROTHERHAM ......4 ACCRINGTON ....1

- By John Brindley

That temporarily took the wind out of the Millers’ sails as the second half started in more stuttering fashion, before Evans made a double change just before the hour.

The introduction of Nardiello steadied the ship as he headed the Millers back in front when Stanley failed to deal with Kari Arnason’s throw in.

Andy Warrington made crucial saves from James Beattie and Lee Molyneux before Nardiello’s fine stooping header and a 20-yarder from the classy Michael O’Connor sealed a blistering and decisive 10minute spell.

Beattie was taken off shortly after his best two moments of the game and Stanley finished well beaten.

Accrington manager Leam Richardson said:“We were in the game and competed well at times. “We knew we would come under pressure at a place like this but it’s disappointing to concede sloppy goals at set pieces. We’ve got to learn and learn fast.

“We came off at 1-1 at half-time quite confident but it’s typical of the way things have been going that we had a couple of near misses then concede quickly at the other end.

“We knew we were facing a tough December and that’s the way it is proving. But we will come back and come back stronger.”
