BONGANI: DONNY CAN GO TO TOP

- By David Watson

SUCCESSIVE promotions are becoming the norm these days and Bongani Khumalo claims Doncaster Rovers can become the latest surprise package in the Championship.

In years gone by the likes of Norwich and Southampton have made the leap from League One appear seamless with promotion to the Premier League at the first attempt.

And Khumalo, who is on a season-long loan from Tottenham, believes Donny can be the next to make a charge to the top flight.

“I think we can go all the way, we’re as good as anybody else,” said the 26-year-old South African defender.

“Promotion is the golden prize and if you work hard and have believe then you have a chance.”

Boss Paul Dickov has no doubts in his squad’s ability, and believes that the sky is the limit for his newly-promoted side.

“I believe we’re going to win every game – stupidly, naively or whatever it is,” said the former Manchester City striker.

“I want the boys to be that way as well, genuinely, and when they get the ball to express themselves and play because we’ve got some top quality players.

“They know I want them to go out and play with freedom. The hardest part is working without the ball, being disciplined in the way you do that and having the right attitude.”
