BREWERS BANK ON ALEXANDER

GARY Rowett has backed new signing Gary Alexander to inspire Burton’s promotion push and claim a memorable hat-trick.

Alexander, 34, signed from Crawley on deadline day and after winning promotion with the Red Devils and Brentford, Rowett has challenged him to add another to his collection.

“What you get with Gary is someone who has been there and seen it,” said Rowett.

“He’s had two promotions and knows what it takes to get out of this division. He’s been straight into the thick of it, giving people around him a bit of encouragement and instruction, not just as a player, but as a character.”
