CITY DO OWE A DEBT TO MYSTIC YEUNG
ACCORDING to Birmingham City’s owners BIHL, outgoing owner Carson Yeung is a man with some serious extra-sensory perception.
“Mr Yeung, with his foresight, aspiration and clairvoyance, has steered the board successfully through landmark projects such as the acquisition of Birmingham City Football Club, for which the board is profoundly indebted.”
Now, I hate to sound like a cynic. I mean, Mystic Meg did once say Libras would be lucky the VERY night I won a tenner on the lottery.
But there is a great deal of evidence to suggest that Mr Yeung is no savant. A true clairvoyant, for instance, would have known that Nikola Zigic would become the most useless drain on resources since tropical fish-loving Peter Ridsdale’s tetras.
A clairvoyant would also have known that Birmingham would fall to pieces after winning the League Cup and end up in the Championship.
And surely he’d have bailed out of Hong Kong long before spending three years in clink whilst the cops investigated moneylaundering charges.
There again, maybe the folks at BIHL are just comedians. After all, the club has certainly been left “profoundly indebted” whilst Yeung has been banged up.
