GRE­GOR Robert­son says he was more than happy to an­swer Alan Knill’s emer­gency call as strug­glers Northamp­ton con­tinue to swell their ranks.

Left-back Robert­son has signed a con­tract un­til the end of the sea­son af­ter be­ing re­leased by Crewe.

And hav­ing pre­vi­ously worked with Cob­blers as­sis­tant boss Knill at Rother­ham, the 30-year-old Robert­son is ready to help out.

“The lads all seem re­ally good and there’s a good at­mos­phere here,” he said.

“I’ve worked un­der Alan be­fore, he’s a good coach and I’ve heard good things about Chris (Wilder the new boss).

“Alan rang and asked me if I’d like to come down and help the club out of the po­si­tion that they’re in and I was happy to do so.”
