LEICESTER and Derby are both interested in former Chelsea defender Paulo Ferreira.

The 35-year-old has been out of the game after announcing his retirement at the end of last season when he left Stamford Bridge.

The former Portuguese international, who has 61 caps, can play at either right or left back and spent nine years with Chelsea.

Ferreira made 141 league appearances during his time in West London, winning three Premier Leagues, four FA Cups, a Champions League and the Europa League.

Both clubs are fighting to win promotion to the Premier League and would like him to at least provide cover.

Ferreira would be available to sign as soon as a club offered him a deal as he is now a free agent.

He has been back in training with Chelsea and also in Portugal where he has split his time since retiring.

It is understood Brighton and Reading are also keeping in touch with any developments. BOLTON defender Zat Knight has been offered the chance to move to MLS when his contract runs out in the summer.

Former England international Knight is a target for Philadelphia Union and they have already made a contract offer. MILLWALL are giving a trial to former Swansea and Leeds defender Fede Bessone.

The Argentinian left-back started his career with Spanish giants Barcelona, alongside his childhood friend Lionel Messi.

Bessone is now a free agent after leaving MLS outfit Sporting Kansas City and has been handed a chance to impress Lions boss Ian Holloway.

The left side of defence is an area where the Lions are well served through Scott Malone and Shane Lowry while Jack Smith can also fill in.

The 30-year-old has also had spells with Charlton, Swindon and Oldham. Holloway is keen to strengthen one of the worst defences in the Championship and will give Bessone longer to impress.

Bessone has claimed he turned down a three year contract extension with Sporting Kansas to return to London.

The Lions have backed Holloway with money since he took over at The Den in January but it remains to be seen if a deal will be offered.
