ROGUE RAVEL IS HARRY’S PERFECT GAMBLE

-

HARRY Redknapp has claimed that Ravel Morrison can have the same impact as Paolo Di Canio – but he still admits he’s taking a gamble on the West Ham midfielder.

QPR boss Redknapp, who managed Di Canio at West Ham, insists the club are doing all they can to secure a loan deal for the ex-Manchester United and England U-21 star, who is rarely far from controversy.

Rangers have struggled for goals so far this season with just 36 in the Championship but Redknapp believes Morrison’s arrival could open the floodgates.

“I’ve always had someone in my teams who can change a game,” he said.

“I had Di Canio and I had Merson at Portsmouth. I’ve had someone special who can turn a game for you.

“I thought the other day we dominated (the 1-0 defeat to Derby) but Ravel may be one of those lads who can do that for us. It is a gamble for us.

“I think he has fantastic ability and if we get the best out of him he can make a real difference. As far as I know he is fit to play.”

The west London club have no fresh injury concerns for the clash with Reading and could hand Modibo Maiga his first start, with Junior Hoilett and Jermaine Jenas both battling for a place in midfield.

Rangers came into the weekend in third position, three points off a promotion spot and Redknapp believes it his side can ill afford to drop many more points.

“We will have to be positive and make a fast start but Reading are a good side so it will be some contest,” he added.”
