The Football League Paper

DREAM TEAM

REUBEN REID – The Yeovil striker, on loan at Plymouth Argyle, chooses his favourite XI, made up from players he has played with or against in his football career.

GOALKEEPERI

Marek Stech – Yeovil Town I played with him at Yeovil and he is a keeper who has the potential to do really well – I was really impressed with him. He’s also a very funny lad. He has a funny accent which makes a lot of the lads laugh but there is no doubt about his talent.

DEFENDERS

Dale Tonge – Torquay United He’s at Torquay now but I was with him at Rotherham and in our last season together we linked up really well down the right. He’s primarily a right back but can play anywhere across defence. He used to just give me the ball and sit back and cover me, it was great as I never had to run back. Pablo Mills – Bury Pablo’s another I played with at Rotherham who was a great talent at the back. He can play in midfield too and is a great player on the ball. He’s a great guy to have around and a really good leader of the team. Leon Johnson – Wycombe Wanderers He’s mainly in the team because he is the best looking lad to have ever played a football game – well that’s his claim. But I’d say I’m the best looking player, of course. He’s a really good team player and a good laugh.

RIGHT MIDFIELDI

Filipe Morais – Stevenage The first 20 minutes of the game he would be at Champions League level and then after 20 minutes you won’t see him again! He has also got one of the best set of tricks in the game, up there with Ronaldinho. It’s just that he goes missing after 20 minutes...

CENTRE MIDFIELDI

Dominic Blizzard – Plymouth Argyle We live together and travel into training together. He’s the best player I have ever played with – he’ll like me for say- ing that. In all seriousness, since he has come back into the Plymouth team he has proved what a player he is and he’s great to have in the midfield.

CENTRE MIDFIELD

Youssouf Mulumbu – West Brom I played with him when I was at West Brom and he had a bad case of shortman syndrome. He was this aggressive Congolese kid who would go around harrying you in midfield. He is just so powerful though and great to have in front of the back four. Danny Rose – Oxford United We’re both from Bristol, and I’ve played with him since I was 10 years old although we have never played a Football League game together. He is just a quality player, he started out at Manchester United and I still see him quite a lot and watch out for his progress.

LEFT MIDFIELDI

Jerome Thomas – Crystal Palace We played together at West Brom and he was someone who really impressed me. He has struggled a bit with injuries, but with his ability he should be a bigger name in the Premier league than he is.

STRIKERS

Lee Thorpe – Retired He was a seasoned veteran when we were both at Torquay, he had played so many league games and was such an experienced player. I was on loan there at the time, just 17, and he would take the centre half out with an aerial challenge to give me space. He was a really nice guy. Akos Buzsaky – Ferencvaros I played with him at Plymouth. When I had first signed as a professional, this guy showed me a level of football I had not seen before. His skills and his technique and the things he did really impressed me. He went on to play in the Premier League with QPR, which was well deserved.
