‘NOBODY WANTS TO SIGN LOSERS’

-

BOSS Gary Waddock has warned his entire Oxford squad they are fighting for their futures.

The U’s have made an inauspicious start under Waddock, who took over in March, and with several contracts up for renewal this summer he insists no one is safe from the exit door.

“We have lost far too many matches and I don’t want that at this football club,” he said.

“This is a very good football club. It is fantastically supported and it needs to be addressed, simple as that.

“Players are playing for their careers and futures whether they are under contract or not.”

Captain Jake Wright’s contract is expiring and he knows winning is the only way to get a new deal.

“If this club doesn’t want you then other clubs are going to look at our record and see we haven’t been good enough in recent months,” he said.

“Managers are not going to want losing footballers and that is what we are.”
