SADDLERS STICKING BY SQUAD

WALSALL may be stuck with nothing to play for, but boss Dean Smith won’t overhaul the squad in search of a topsix finish next term.

James Baxendale, Sam Mantom, Paul Downing and Richard O’Donnell have all been retained by the midtable Saddlers.

But Smith isn’t overly concerned about some of the other players out of contract in the summer.

“It would take one hell of a lot for something to change my mind over a player now, when I have seen so much of them,” he said.

“I don’t think it is going to take an awful lot for us to be a top-six team next season and that is what we are looking to do.”
