WADDOCK TO CHOP THE DEAD

- By James Walker

GARY WADDOCK has pledged to get rid of the losing culture at Oxford United after defeat to Accrington ended their promotion hopes.

Goals from Kayode Odejayi and James Gray brought a third consecutive defeat for Oxford and also guaranteed Accrington’s place in the Football League for next season.

A strike from Ryan Williams offered little consolation to Waddock, who believes many of his players lack the hunger to get out of League Two.

He said:“I would like to say how unacceptable that per- formance was – for everybody associated with this football club.

“It will be addressed, make no mistake about that because that’s not the type of team we want. We need to change the culture here, at the moment we have a losing culture.
