NELSON STAYS ON AT GILLS

GILLINGHAM goalkeeper Stuart Nelson is ready to push towards promotion after signing a two-year contract with the club.

While other players’ futures are still unclear, 32-year-old Nelson, who helped the Gills to 17th place in League One, had no hesitation in penning a new deal to stay on at Priestfield.

“It was a question of ‘where do I sign?’ which is why it happened so quickly,” said Nelson, the former Notts County and Brentford No.1.

“I’ve got ambition and I want to push on in my career and play higher but I’ve said before that this is the club to do it at.”
