CARAYOL’S IN A BATTLE TO BE FIT

MIDDLESBROUGH boss Aitor Karanka has revealed Mustapha Carayol is facing a race against time to be fit for the start of next season.

Carayol underwent surgery in April after damaging knee ligaments against Bournemouth and looks set to miss most of pre-season.

“Unfortunately, we don't expect Muzzy to be ready for when we return to training,” said Karanka.

“He will miss a chunk of that training.

“It has been tough for Muzzy to have such a serious injury, but I am in contact with him every week and he is stronger each time I speak to him.”
