U’S LOSE CAPTAIN WILSON

COLCHESTER boss Joe Dunne acknowledged that family reasons were behind captain Brian Wilson’s decision to leave the club.

Defender Wilson turned down a contract offer to stay at the Weston Homes Community Stadium after making over 160 appearances for the U’s but Dunne says there are no hard feelings.

“He’s got a young family and is from a different part of the country and has decided he wants to move,” said Dunne

“I fully respect Brian’s decision, he’s been great for us and he was my captain. We tried to keep him. I understand it’s a difficult situation where there are clubs able to pay more than we do.”
